Jack Doesn't Know Jack - "Don't Be Fuelish With Your Grilling"

Problem 2: You and your guests bite into your meals. Taste buds all ready for the taste of a nice juicy steak! Instead, all of you only to get the intense flavor of lighter fluid. What should I have done?

A: Try to find a flavored lighter fluid.

B: Stick to a charcoal product that isn't saturated with lighter fluid and isn't billed as easy-to-light--use a chimney starter instead. Never spray lighter fluid onto an open flame or hot charcoal.

C: Sprinkle the meat with baking soda. This will absorb the lighter fluid taste.

Jack Dosen't know Jack - "The Guests Are Sick!"

Everyone feels sick after eating your food because you created cross-contamination when you got raw meat drippings on cooked food.

A: Be strict about keeping separate the areas you use to prepare raw meat and cooked and other foods. Use two different tongs to handle food -- one for raw meat, the other for cooked meat.

B: Should have ordered from Ming’s Chinese Palace and called it a night.

C: Should have partially cooked the meat on the stove first.

Congratulations to Aileen from Kingston for know ing the correct answer to todays question! The GRAND PRIZE Winner will be announced at 8:50 today!

It's been a crazy day at work, and I’m starved, I want something quick..so I think fish in the microwave, that shouldn't take that long! I plop it in a pyrex dish, put a lid on it and in it goes...but it doesn't seem to be cooking so I just keep adding time to the cook cycle..when you finally take it out it sort of resembles jiffy pop..or maybe fishy pop...what could I have done to avoid this stinky mess?

A. Placed plastic wrap over the pyrex, with 1 corner left open for venting and cooked at a lower temp.
B. started with frozen fish, not fresh
c. should have stopped for a Filet-O-fish at McDonalds on the way home.

I decided to make my and my wife's favorite dessert, double chocolate brownies! BUT no mixes for me....no sir! I'm gonna bake from scratch! I gather up the the ingredients! Or, mostly all the ingredients...I realize I don't have any baking chocolate to make the brownies really gooey! On No! So, I crush up Cocoa Puffs and mix them in, thinking that will work, it doesn't. What should you have done?

A. melted down the half eaten Chocolate bunny from 2 years ago
B. mix food colorings together so the batter sort of looks brown
C. added a mixture of 3 parts cocoa powder and 1 part oil to the batter to add the chocolate gooeyness

Jack Doesn't KNow Jack: The Kitchen - The Soup!

Congratulations to Sarah from Rhinebeck, NY for knowing todays correct answer! Tune in tomorrow at 6:50 for the next Jack Doesn't Know Jack: The Kitchen question of the day!

It was kind of a rainy night here in the Hudson Valley and what better on a night like that than a nice warm bowl of homemade soup. Into the kitchen I go, all the ingredients are chopped and tossed in, I added the broth, and then I began to season it...I tasted it and it doesn't seem to have enough salt so I added more...a little later I taste it and still not enough salt so I add more...I did this 3 more times, when it's time to serve it I taste one last time and it is way too salty...now what am I gonna do???

A. Strain it through a Cheesecloth to absorb the salt

B. Put chunks of raw potato in and let simmer abit longer, then remove the potatoes and toss as they have absorbed the salt

c. grab your wife's sea sponge from the bathroom to soak up the extra salt
