Neil Young Almost Made the Pistol Annies "Pee Their Pants"! LOL!!
It's always nice to get props . . . but it means a hell of a lot more when it comes from someone you respect!
That happened to the PISTOL ANNIES when they found out NEIL YOUNG wrote about them in his book "Waging Heavy Peace: A Hippie Dream". In one passage, Neil quoted the lyrics to their song "Hell On Heels". He wrote, quote, "I heard the Pistol Annies sing about reasons why they're broke and so who would invest in their future? One's drinkin', one's smokin', one's taking pills. Well, they are writing their asses off. I know that." ANGALEENA PRESLEY fired off a big thank you to Neil on her Twitter page. She wrote, quote, "@Neil Young. You are one of the greats who taught me how to 'write my ass off.' I kindly and humbly thank you." The rest of the Annies added this Tweet, quote, "Thank You @neilyoung for publicly appreciating our lyrics. We about peed our pants when we read your compliment. Your art inspires our art."

Taylor Swift is the Country Artist with the Most Twitter Followers. But You Probably Can't Guess Who's Number Two.
The website MusicRow.com keeps track of how many Twitter followers each country star has. It's an exhaustive list that goes all the way to 100. It's no surprise that TAYLOR SWIFT is #1 with over 18 million followers. No one else is even close. But I was blown away when I saw DOLLY PARTON coming in second with a little over two million followers. Not disappointed, just surprised. I thought it would be Twitter addict BLAKE SHELTON . . . who is third with a little under than two million. But I AM calling foul on #4, JENNETTE MCCURDY. Yes, she released a country album . . . but she's only ranked that high because she plays Sam on Nickelodeon's "iCarly", starring MIRANDA COSGROVE. Anyway, here is your Top 10:
#1.) Taylor Swift . . . 18,703,353
#2.) Dolly Parton . . . 2,155,012
#3.) Blake Shelton . . . 1,947,246
#4.) Jennette McCurdy . . . 1,498,817
#5.) Miranda Lambert . . . 1,361,744
#6.) Kenny Chesney . . . 1,006,647
#7.) Billy Ray Cyrus . . . 998,333
#8.) Brad Paisley . . . 929,711
#9.) Lady Antebellum . . . 863,201
#10.) Carrie Underwood . . . 769,764
A couple of this year's biggest stars just missed the Top 10. LUKE BRYAN was 11th with over 748,000 followers and JASON ALDEAN was right behind at #12, with close to 695,000.

Jo Dee Messina Tweeted That Chris Young is "Ugly"
CHRIS YOUNG recently met JO DEE MESSINA and it did not go well. At least according to Jo Dee. On Tuesday morning she took to her Twitter page and destroyed him with a nasty Tweet. She wrote, quote, "OMG! Just saw Chris Young. He was ugly, arrogant and rude. Really, country radio? This guy's an ass."
Chris Young did not respond directly to Jo Dee's attack but his fans defended him on Twitter and that got him talking. He wrote, quote, "If I have said it once I have said it 1,000 times, my fans are badass." And his fans weren't the only ones standing up for him. DAVID NAIL gave him props with this Tweet, quote, "[Chris Young] is one of THE most down to earth artists I've met in 12 years in this town!"

Kenny Chesney Does Not Have Time to Post Stuff on Twitter.
These days, every artist NEEDS to have a presence on the social networks. But that doesn't mean they're the ones posting stuff. For example, KENNY CHESNEY leaves that to his people . . . because he's just too damn busy. He says, quote, "I don't have time. I'm running a company. I'm doing everything I've gotta do to do what I do." Kenny's not leaving the door completely closed, though. He adds, quote, "Maybe one day . . . maybe soon." Speaking of Kenny: MSN is offering an "exclusive first listen" to his song "Sing 'Em Good My Friend". It's a track on his upcoming album"Welcome To The Fishbowl", which drops Tuesday. (--You can listen to it here.)

Jake Owen Helped Some Teenager Ask a Girl To The Prom!
JAKE OWEN used his Twitter account to help some high school kid ask a girl to the prom. On Tuesday he Tweeted, quote, "Hey @larissa_lewisss. My name is Jake. We've never met, but I have a question for you. Hope to hear from you, -J." Larissa replied that she was interested . . . so Jake wrote, quote, "@tylermiles14 wants you to go to prom w/ him. David Nail Is Addicted to Twitter!
Some artists pay attention to their Twitter and Facebook pages . . . while others clearly push it off on "their people". And then there are those who LIVE their lives on them. Taylor Swift, Blake Shelton and LeAnn Rimes come to mind. And let's add DAVID NAIL to the list. Twitter is a drug that he can't live without. David said, quote, "I'm addicted to it. I think it's a brilliant avenue to share news with people." David wasn't all that interested at first, and then THE MAN got him hooked. He said, quote, "I can remember my record label begging me to get involved with this thing called Twitter and I thought, that's so ridiculous. "Who cares that I'm eating lunch at Arby's right now? But it just became addicting like a drug." David has 45,000 followers and he says he'll answer just about any question they have, especially when it comes to sports. I checked out David's Twitter page just to see what he's up to and I found an awesome Tweet from yesterday. He wrote, quote, "On the @SouthwestAir plane, man in his late 50s trying desperately to hit on flight attendant in exit row! Thrown up in my mouth twice!"
Now THAT'S funny!
Now THAT'S funny!

Blake Shelton Threatened to "Throat Punch" People Who Disrespected Kelly Clarkson.
KELLY CLARKSON started a Twitter firestorm last week when she said she "loved" RON PAUL as the Republican nominee for President. It began with this Tweet, quote, "I love Ron Paul. I liked him a lot during the last Republican nomination and no one gave him a chance. If he wins the nomination for the Republican Party in 2012 he's got my vote. Too bad he probably won't."
Unfortunately, when you talk politics, the haters come out. People started Tweeting their angry disapproval of Kelly's political views . . . with some even accusing Ron Paul of being racist and homophobic. (Really??? Come on...)
Kelly did her best to make nice. At one point she Tweeted, quote, "I am really sorry if I have offended anyone. Obviously, that was not my intent. I do not support racism." Well, Kelly's buddy BLAKE SHELTON never met a Twitter controversy he didn't like . . . so he enthusiastically jumped in. Blake Tweeted, quote, "I love you! I'll listen to your viewpoints anytime. And I really wouldn't mind throat punching someone for you either!"
Now THAT'S why I really like (and relate to) Blake Shelton! Go, Blake!

Luke Bryan Took to His Twitter Page . . . to Apologize for His Drunk Tweets.
You can add LUKE BRYAN to the list of people who may never drunk Tweet again. It started last Thursday when he took his wife Caroline to a Nashville restaurant called Virago. Luke Tweeted, quote, "It's my anniversary. Daddy's getting lucky." And then came the lethal combination of too much firewater and perceived disrespect. Luke wrote, quote, "Hey y'all. It's been a great night. But. However. Virago the sub par sushi joint made me take my hat off mid meal." And then, quote, "After 2 bottles of Dom (Perignon). So will never eat mediocre sushi again on my anniversary." Believe it or not, Luke was just getting started. He then tried to start a backlash. He asked everyone to, quote, "Join me in my boycott of Virago. Sushi restaurant against those who sing and perform country music." And he followed that up with some shameless boasting, quote, "Yes, I left a 150 dollar tip. Had the manager not scolded me like a child I would have left double that." Luke even drove the point home that he was NOT of sound mind. He wrote, quote, "I'm is drunk. Love y'all. See y'all in the morning." As we all know, a round of drunk Tweets must be followed by some sober apologies. The next day, which was Friday, Luke Tweeted, quote, "Well, in the wake of my drunk tweets. I do wanna apologize to Virago. The food was really great and the service was great too." Plus, quote, "Also sorry about the choice words." I guess you can never give too many props to the people you just badmouthed. Luke added, quote, "Also, Caroline and I had a great night together. I never really was that mad. I truly was being silly and got carried away. Sorry again."
All in all, Luke is NOT the first to "Drunk Tweet"....and he won't be the last. At least he apologized. Some don't even do that.

The Only Group That Uses Twitter More than 18-to-29-Year-Olds Is . . . Congress!
Most people don't think of Congress as being hip or cutting-edge, but a new survey found that they're more plugged in than people in their 20s. According to an Associated Press survey, 441 members of Congress have Facebook profiles. That's five out of every six members. And it's 8% more than the percentage of young adults between the ages of 18 and 29 who are on Facebook. When it comes to Twitter, our Congressional representatives are way cooler than the millennial generation: 433 members are on Twitter, or four out of every five. Only 18% of adults under 30 have Twitter accounts. Republicans are more active tweeters than Democrats. 86% of House Republicans are on Twitter, compared to 75% of Democrats. 87% of Republican Senators have Twitter accounts, compared to 80% of Democrats. Of course, just because they're ON social networks doesn't mean they really know how to use them. The study found that most of the tweets and status updates from Congress are dry policy talking points. One third of 18-to-29-year-olds have tried to contact government officials online, so according to the study, if Congress was more interactive on social networks, they might be able to reach their younger followers.

Whose Tweet Is This?
I actually witnessed this exchange myself!
It's time to play, 'Whose Tweet is This?' We'll give you the Tweet, you tell us who wrote it on their Twitter page. "Wow . . . I'd like to thank all the followers who've supported me over the years, haters, PETA and of course Twitter . . . She finally answered!!!!" The Tweet belongs to . . . BLAKE SHELTON. He posted it on Saturday. But the "she" he is referring to is NOT his fiancée MIRANDA LAMBERT.
No, Blake was all dognuts because ZOOEY DESCHANEL, from the movie "Your Highness", responded to one of his Tweets. It all started when Blake re-Tweeted one of Zooey's posts. And then she Tweeted that it was indeed her. That's when Blake got all excited. By the way, Miranda Lambert did NOT sit by quietly and let this borderline flirting go unanswered. She took to Twitter to "thank" Zooey. Miranda wrote, "Thank you @therealzooeyd for answering my financy, @blakeshelton's tweet. Maybe now he'll obsess over something else:) luv @Miranda_lambert."
I saw this happen and thought..."I hope that there's a BIG Dog House at Blakes house"

Brad Paisley Does *Not* Use Twitter for Monetary Gain!
Social networks can be a great marketing tool. But according to BRAD PAISLEY, that doesn't mean people are always going to buy what you're trying to sell. Brad tells "Billboard", quote, "(Twitter) is not as effective as people thought at selling product. That's not why I do it. They found in studies that it depends on the person. "People following CHARLIE SHEEN may not buy things because he tells you to, but people following OPRAH would be more likely to run out and do it if she tells you to do it. I don't know where I fall in that. Probably somewhere between Charlie and Oprah. I don't use it for monetary or career gain. People see through that. I use it for observation and I use it in a way that my fans can see a little bit of my personality."
