Jake Owen's Family Getting Ready to Welcome Daughter Pearl This Month!

Jake Owen and his wife Lacey will welcome their daughter Pearl into the world later this month, and Jake's parents are very excited about their first grandchild's impending arrival. Jake says, "My mom has asked me for years, 'When are you gonna get married?  When are you gonna get married?  I want grandbabies.'" Jake's grandparents are looking forward to becoming great grand-parents too. He says, "There’s a lot of cool feelings goin’ around the Owen household these days." Jake's family is happy to see him settled down with wife Lacey too. They tied the knot in May, and Jake says, "Lacey came into my life at a time when I needed it most -- and needed her the most, and thankfully she’ll be here with me ‘til my dying day." Jake is getting in a few shows this weekend on his The Summer Never Ends tour before the baby arrives. He's got a show in South Carolina and two shows in Georgia with special guests Love and Theft and Florida Georgia Line.

Sometimes feelings of pain and sadness seem to never fade. But believe me, they do. Sometimes it's a good day and sometimes it's not. That's normal. I have never fully moved on from the passing of my parents. I miss them as much today as I did the day after they were gone from my life. With 9/11, so many people lost their life and so many families lost their loved ones. Their pain has not gone away yet either. But, the one thing that we have, is each other. Help comfort those who need comforting. Be strong for those who feel weak. On this day, put aside petty differences and help those who need help. Be strong for the weak and comfort those who mourn. If you can do that today, why not do it tomorrow and all the days after that. We will never forget those who lost their life on September 11, 2001. To all those who may feel weak, we are all here to be your strenght. To all those who stiil mourn, we are all here to comfort you. May God Bless you and your families and may God Bless America.

A Six-Year-Old Boy Got to Become Hellboy Through Make-a-Wish!

A six-year-old boy named Zachary has leukemia, and was given the chance to have a wish granted through Make-a-Wish. His wish was . . . to meet and become HELLBOY. Zachary is a big comic book fan, and his parents said he's watched the "Hellboy" movie about 100 times while getting treatment in the hospital.
So the people at Spectral Motion studios brought Zachary in, and also put out a call to Ron Perlman, who played Hellboy in the movie. Ron went through four hours of makeup and costume work to become Hellboy one more time. Zachary just thought he was getting a tour of the studio, but at the end of the tour, Ron showed up and gave Zachary a sit-down with Hellboy. After that, the Spectral Motion artists put Zachary in the make-up chair and turned HIM into a miniature version of Hellboy.

The Good News: Charlie Sheen Is Giving At Least $1 Million to the USO!

CHARLIE SHEEN is donating one-percent of the profits from his FX show "Anger Management" to the USO. He's guaranteeing the donation will be at least $1 MILLION, but there's no limit on how high it can go. Charlie will hand over the first installment of $250,000 in a private ceremony later this week.
He says, quote, "It's an honor for me to be able to give back to these men and women of the military who have done so much for all of us. "They put their lives on the line for us every day, and I'm just happy that my work on 'Anger Management' can bring a little bit of relief to the troops and their families."

Miranda Lambert Gets Flowers from Blake Shelton; Chris Young Says Goodbye to On Fire Tour.

Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton are away from each other a lot of the time, but they find ways to express their love for each other across the miles. Miranda tweeted a picture of a big bouquet Saturday night with the caption, "My sweet husband sent me these." The photo was taken on Miranda's tour bus before her show in Missouri on the On Fire tour. Saturday night's show also marked Chris Young's last night on the On Fire tour. He tweeted, "If I have said it once I have said it 1,000 times…@Miranda_Lambert is amazing! Thanks for having me."

A Homeless Man Gets to Keep the $77,000 He Found in a Park in January!

46-year-old Timothy Yost is a homeless man in Bastrop, Texas. On January 18th, he went to Fisherman's Park so he could wash his feet in the Colorado River. That's when he noticed a bag, sitting on the bank of the river. Timothy looked inside and found 70 $100 bills and 40 gold Krugerrands, which are South African gold coins worth about $1,700 each.  All together, the bag was worth about $77,000. The money was wet, so Timothy took the cash to a bank and asked if he could exchange it for dry bills. They told him he had to wait until the money dried . . . and called the police. The police took custody of the bag, placed ads and waited several months, but they weren't able to find its owner.  (--Someone came forward, and police thought he was credible . . . but then he withdrew his claim for some reason.)

The Bastrop city council voted unanimously to let Timothy have the loot!

A Guy Spent 55 Years Protecting New England's Tallest Elm Tree. When They Both Died, He Was Buried in a Coffin Made from Its Wood.

In 1956, a logging company owner named Frank Knight in Portland, Maine decided to protect an elm tree. At 110 feet tall, it was the tallest elm in New England. And Frank made it his life's mission to keep the tree alive. He made sure it wasn't cut down for lumber, and he had workers from his company prune it regularly and treat it with pesticides, so it would stay healthy. After nearly 55 years of Frank caring for it, the tree died of Dutch elm disease two years ago. It was the 14th time the tree had the disease, and the first time that Frank couldn't get it to pull through. On Monday, Frank died at 103 years old. And he'll be buried in a coffin made out of wood from the tree. His friends secretly took some of the wood from the tree when it was cut down, so they could pay tribute to Frank for spending more than half his life as its volunteer caretaker.

This is a very touching story. I just wish that more of these types of stories were available. It's comforting to know that there are people out there that care so much for another living thing.
