GO TEAM USA! Final Medal Totals..

There were 962 medals handed out in London this year and the United States won 104 of them. China was 17 medals behind us. Between our two countries, we account for 20% of the medals handed out this year.
When you consider gold medals alone, our performance is even more impressive. The U.S. won 15% of the gold, China earned 13%, the British won 10%, and the Russians took 8% of all the gold medals. 

Here's the final medal count:

We Now Have a Ten-Medal Lead Over China!

The United States has won 90 medals so far, including the nine we picked up yesterday. With three more days of competition left, we have a TEN-medal lead over China. Here are the latest standings:
 
#1.)  United States with 90 medals - 39 Gold, 25 Silver, and 26 Bronze.

#2.)  China with 80 medals - 37 Gold, 24 Silver, and 19 Bronze.

#3.)  Russia with 56 medals - 12 Gold, 21 Silver, and 23 Bronze.

#4.)  Great Britain with 52 medals - 25 Gold, 13 Silver, and 14 Bronze.

#5.)  Germany with 37 medals - 10 Gold, 16 Silver, and 11 Bronze.

We've Pulled Ahead of the Chinese with a Total of 81 Medals!

The United States won 11 medals yesterday, which puts us ahead on the overall medal count. We now lead the Chinese by four and the British have fallen behind the Russians by the same amount. Here are the latest standings:
 
#1.)  United States with 81 medals - 34 Gold, 22 Silver, and 25 Bronze.

#2.)  China with 77 medals - 36 Gold, 22 Silver, and 19 Bronze.

#3.)  Russia with 52 medals - 11 Gold, 19 Silver, and 22 Bronze.

#4.)  Great Britain with 48 medals - 22 Gold, 13 Silver, and 13 Bronze.

#5.)  Germany with 32 medals - 7 Gold, 15 Silver, and 10 Bronze.

We Trail China By Three . . . and 64% of Countries Still Haven't Medaled!

The seven medals we picked up yesterday weren't enough to catch the Chinese. While we won seven, they earned another nine to solidify a three medal lead. The British and the Russians have been jockeying for third place. As of last night, they were tied with a total of 48 medals, but the Brits had a dozen more gold to put them back in third again. Here's the overall medal count:

#2.)  United States with 70 medals - 30 Gold, 19 Silver, and 21 Bronze.

We Only Won Three Medals Yesterday . . . So China Is Still in the Lead.

Monday was a slow day for Team America. We only won three medals . . . but China did just as bad, so at least we didn't lose any ground. They're still ahead of us by one medal. Here's yesterday's overall medal count:

#2.)  United States with 63 medals - 29 Gold, 15 Silver, and 19 Bronze.

China Passed Us in Medals Again and the British Are Now in Third!

The British had an excellent weekend.  They picked up nearly two dozen medals and jumped from seventh place to THIRD. We had a similar run, but the Chinese outperformed us overall to take the lead again.  Here's the overall medal count:


#1.)  China with 61 medals - 30 Gold, 17 Silver, and 14 Bronze.

#2.)  United States with 60 medals - 28 Gold, 14 Silver, and 18 Bronze.

#3.)  Great Britain with 37 medals - 16 Gold, 11 Silver, and 10 Bronze.

#4.)  Russia with 35 medals - 4 Gold, 16 Silver, and 15 Bronze.

#5.)  Japan with 27 medals - 2 Gold, 12 Silver, and 13 Bronze.

Olympics Update: China Now Has Five More Gold Than The U.S.

Despite picking up another six medals yesterday, we're still chasing the Chinese in the medal count.  They now have five more gold medals than we do, and we're behind them by one on the overall count.  Here are the latest standings:

#1.)  China with 30 medals - 17 Gold, 9 Silver, and 4 Bronze.

#2.)  United States with 29 medals - 12 Gold, 8 Silver, and 9 Bronze.

#3.)  Japan with 17 medals - 2 Gold, 4 Silver, and 11 Bronze.

#4.)  France with 13 medals - 5 Gold, 3 Silver, and 5 Bronze.

#5.)  Germany with 13 medals - 3 Gold, 8 Silver, and 2 Bronze.

The Germans knocked South Korea out of the Top 5 yesterday. They dropped down to sixth with 12 medals.

China and the U.S. Were Tied at 23 Medals Each After Yesterday's Events.

The United States won six new medals on Tuesday. That ties us with China in the overall medal count . . . but we still trail them in Gold medals by four. Here's the overall medal count:

#2.)  United States with 23 medals - 9 Gold, 8 Silver, and 6 Bronze.
